The Picks:

Melusine Volume 1 Hocus Pocus GN – Cinebook introduces a new series for all ages. Melusine is a sorcerer’s apprentice who is working to become a powerful witch. She’s not always successful with her spells, and her tricks often turn against her and her circle, but she’s not giving up! In this first volume, Melusine goes to work as a nanny in a castle in Transylvania, where the lady of the house is a bad-tempered phantom, her husband is a cool vampire, and the footman is a Frankenstein with an exceptionally limited intellect. It’s just another day for Melusine. Cinebook is a European publisher that brings books from different genres and age ranges available to American audiences. Melusine is their newest all ages title, filled with cute art, a funny and dynamic lead, and plenty of adventures. Boys and girls alike will love Melusine.

Terrible Lizard Volume 1 TP – Oni Press’s touching story of a girl and her T-Rex is collected in this new trade. Jessica is an average teenage girl until the scientists of Cosmos Labs punch a hole through time and space and pull a ferocious dinosaur into the present that then imprints on her. He turns out to be more mischievous than vicious, but he’s not alone: Strangely mutated prehistoric monsters begin attacking our world. It is up to Jessica and her dinosaur-fighting dinosaur to stop them—while the U.S. military is trying to kill her. Terrible Lizard collects all five issues and is filled with plenty of action and great characters. It is coming out well ahead of Jurassic World, so kids can start getting excited over seeing dinosaurs now. Also check out the GCfK review of issue #1.
