The Picks:

Gunnerkrigg Court Volume 1 TP – BOOM! Studios brings Thomas Siddell’s award-winning webcomic back to print. Antimony Carver is starting her first year at gloomy Gunnerkrigg Court, a mysterious boarding school that has robots, body-snatching demons, forest gods, and the odd mythical creature also within its walls. Antimony is precocious and preternaturally self-possessed. Along with her friend Kat, she starts to unravel the mysteries of the Court, while dealing with the everyday adventures of growing up. The first print edition of this series completely sold out and was out of print. This new softcover edition, featuring a new cover, will attract both old fans and new readers.

Sleepless Knight A Picture Book HC – First Second gives The Knight from the Adventures in Cartooning series her own book! The Knight and her horse Edward are going on a camping trip. The Knight can’t wait. They packed everything they need, including Knight’s beloved Teddy, and head out into the woods. When Teddy goes missing, the Knight goes searching for him. A helpful rabbit sends the Knight off to a cave, but there’s no teddy bear—it’s a real bear! This title combines the basic elements of comics with the picture book format to create a book for the youngest comic readers, as well as serving as an introduction to the Adventures in Cartooning series. It’s also a sweet, simple adventure that young readers will love.
