The List:
Rutabaga The Adventure Chef Volume 1 – Amulet Books comes out with a title for young foodies. Young adventurer Rutabaga and his magic cooking pot, Pot, join Winnifred, Manny, and Beef on a quest to save the day through cooking. They must defeat a dragon, discover new ingredients, and find a monster to have for and/or to dinner. They will dare any danger to uncover new tastes. Rutabaga’s heroic recipes combine fantasy ingredients and real ingredients that sound fantastical, from roasted much leech to spider soup to peanut butter on crackers. This series sounds a lot like an all ages version of the Viz manga Toriko. Kid-foodies to any kid grossed out by something weird on the dinner table will love Rutabaga.
Teen Dog #8 – BOOM! Studios makes high school fun again. Teen Dog is high school if it didn’t totally stink, and it hits on some of its highlights: skateboards, football games, and prom. In this final issue, it’s summer vacation. Teen Dog gets together with Mariella and his friends to enjoy the summer while it lasts, because the future isn’t going anywhere. Filled with teen angst and whimsical adventure, Teen Dog shows growing up to be an adventure, so it might as well rock!
