The Picks:
Capture Creatures #2 – BOOM! Studios releases a new original series for critter fans. 151 critters have suddenly appeared on Earth with a variety of weird, wild powers. Two teenagers, Tamzen and Jory, are exploring the New Reclamation Zone to try to figure out where they came from and how to save them from a world that doesn’t understand them. It doesn’t hurt if they have a ton of fun in the process! I don’t know how I missed the first issue of this series. It is strongly influenced by titles such as Pokemon and Digimon, but anyone looking for some action and fun should check it out.
Nnewts Volume 1 Escape From Lizzarks – Doug TenNapel is back with another new series from Graphix. Herk is a lovable Nnewt who longs for stronger legs. His small village is attacked by the reptile Lizzarks, and he’s forced to flee his home and family, leaving behind the only life he’s ever known. Herk must now navigate a dangerous world, all alone and on the run. He encounters strange creatures and mysterious wonders, with few friends and an evil lord in hot pursuit. Nnewts started as a webcomic and is a project TenNapel has been thinking about for over 15 years. Now the series is going to print. With so many successes already under his belt, you can be sure this one will be a hit as well.
