The Picks:

Angry Birds Holiday Special – IDW Publishing gets angry for the holidays. Terence, the largest of the Angry Birds is put in charge of the North Pole, and it’s a dream come true. But being Santa Claus is a lot more difficult that he thought, and trying to deliver packages to every good little girl and boy turns his dreams into nightmares. And what happened to Santa anyway? The rest of the Angry Birds have to come to the rescue to save Terence and Christmas. This over-sized holiday special would make a great stocking stuffer, or a distraction for those long shopping trips.

Cats Of Tanglewood Forest SC – Little Brown and Company releases a graphic novel of an original folktale. Lillian Kindred likes to explore the Tanglewood Forest, a magical, rolling wilderness. She imagines it to be full of fairies, even though she’s never seen a wisp of magic there. When she gets into some trouble, she is saved by the cats of the forest by transforming her into a kitten. She must set out on a perilous adventure that will lead her through untamed lands and meet fabled creatures from Old Mother Possum to the fearsome Bear People, to find a way to make things right. This coming-of-age story is written by master of modern fantasy Charles de Lint and illustrated by Charles Vess. Its theme of magic, friendship and finding the courage to shape one’s own destiny will touch everyone who reads it.
