The Picks:
Explorer Volume 3 The Hidden Doors – Amulet releases the next issue of the acclaimed anthology for readers of all ages. A bullied boy discovers a door guarded by a sly monster…A painting of a door opens in a forgotten Egyptian tomb…A portal in the park promises to turn you into a much cooler version 2.0-if you can just get the bugs out. Each Explorer anthology features a theme, and this is about doors; finding them, opening them, going through them. Kazu Kibusishi once again edits as well as contributes to this third volume, and he is joined by such talents as Faith Erin Hicks and Steve Hamaker, as well as past Explorer contributors Johane Matte and Jason Caffoe. This anthology series is one you don’t want to pass up.
Sonic Boom #1 – Archie Comics starts its third Sonic the Hedgehog ongoing series. Sonic Boom is based on the newest cartoon and video game to come out for this long-lived franchise. Sonic and his friends Tails, Amy, Knuckles are back, doing battle with Dr. Eggman and his robotic death-machines. They are joined by some new faces, including Sticks the Badger. The stories are filled with plenty of humor and action. Old and new fans of Sonic and his friends will want to jump in on this first issue.
