The Picks:

Amazing World Of Gumball #1 – BOOM! Studios brings another popular Cartoon Network property to the world of comics. Follow the crazy adventures of Gumball, a cat, and his adopted brother Darwin, a goldfish, as they navigate their wacky world at school and at home. With their younger sister, the brainy Anais, working mom Nicole, and stay-at-home dad Richard, there is no end to the bizarre escapades these two boys with their wild imaginations can come up with. The comic will follow the cartoon in its use of mixed media with cartoonish characters interacting with more realistic images. The zaniness of the Amazing World of Gumball has gained it fans Of all ages, so I’d expect this title to be another hit for BOOM!

Emily And The Strangers Breaking The Record – Dark Horse Comics brings back Emily and her strange friends for another mini series, which picks up where Emily and the Strangers left off. Emily and her new band, the Strangers, have won the battle of the bands. They received a record contract with Awesomely Awesome Records, but now Emily, who only just figured out how to get along with her friends, has to manage dealing with a major corporation, and a lengthy contract that could be less than ideal for the band. Emily’s goth look and counter-culture attitude has gained her a wide audience, though tweens to teens probably appreciate her the most. And of course there are her cats, giving four more reasons to pick up this series.
