The Picks:
Showcase Presents Super Friends Volume 1 TP – DC brings back an all ages classic. The animated TV series Super Friends was a staple of Saturday morning cartoons back in the 70s. The show introduced such superheroes as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and other heroes to a generation of kids. This Showcase brings those stories back for another generation as it collects issues #1-34 of comics based on the TV series. The super heroes along with sidekicks Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog take on villains such as The Riddler, the Time Tripper and others to stop their madcap schemes. This series is a great way to introduce kids to many of DC’s iconic superheroes, and it’s a great trip down memory lane for adults who remember watching the show.
Littlest Pet Shop #1 – Another Hasbro property gets a comic adaptation. The Littlest Pet Shop is a line of toys by Hasbro that like My Little Pony has a cartoon series—and now a comic! Blythe Baxter has moved into an apartment above the Littlest Pet Shop, a store that hosts a day camp for pets. Blythe has the miraculous ability to understand the pets and goes on adventures with them. In this first issue, Russell the hedgehog and Penny Ling the giant panda have a puzzle for their friends to solve. The clues are scattered around Downtown City, but only one team can claim the prize, and a moped can only hold so many big personalities. Fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will enjoy this title. as will animal lovers of any age.
