The Picks:
Lilith Dark And The Beastie Tree GN – Alterna Comics has a new all ages book for kids with big imaginations. Lilith Dark has an active imagination. She doesn’t do tea parties or princess stuff; she likes to fight off wicked creatures and fantastic beasts. While following a mysterious kitten, Lilith stumbles upon an entire world of real beasties. She declares herself Queen of this new world and demands a feast to celebrate. The only problem is that her big sister is set to be the main course! It’s up to Lilith, with the help of her big brother Dewey, her pet monster, and a T-Rex, to rescue her sister from the evil beasties and face her fears, all before bedtime. Lilith and her wild imagination will appeal to readers of any age but will really come to life in the hands of elementary to middle school-aged readers.
Rio Volume 1 Snakes Alive HC/SC – Papercutz releases an exclusive prequel to the new movie Rio 2 coming out this month! Blu and Jewel, the last known surviving Blue Spix Macaws, are enjoying raising their children in the safety of the Blu Bird Sanctuary. But when the Sanctuary gets into trouble, Blu decides to do something about it. Luiz the bulldog tells Blu about a legendary elixir hidden somewhere in the jungle, and Blu thinks that could be the answer, but he has to beat cockatoo Nigel to it and get past the villainous snake Ssssssalbatore. This story takes place right after the original movie Rio as well as bridging the gap to the second movie. This is a must for fans of the original Rio, as well as anyone who is preparing for the second.
