Links: Nathan Hale, Kazu Kibuishi, and the Archie brass talk comics!

April 8, 2014 by Brigid Alverson   Leave a Comment

Nathan Hale talks about the research he does for his Hazardous Tales graphic novels, which despite the humor are accurate retellings of incidents in American history.

They’re not your father’s Archie Comics any more, and Archie CEO Jon Goldwater talks about the changes he has made since he started with the company in 2010, including adding the openly gay character Kevin Keller, reviving the Red Circle superhero line, creating two new comics, Life With Archie and Afterlife With Archie, and, most recently, bringing in writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa as chief creative officer and former DC (and Archie) marketing director Alex Segura to run the Red Circle line.

Meanwhile, Archie president Mike Pellerito talks about the enduring popularity of the comics and how they appeal to kids in general and girls in particular.

And at Comicosity, writer Ian Flynn and editor Paul Kaminski discuss Mega Man and Mega Man X.

Chris Arrant chats with Kazu Kibuishi about Amulet, his Harry Potter covers, and recovering from bacterial meningitis.

Jeff Parker discusses the Angry Birds comics he is creating for IDW.

New series coming: Mike Kunkel is creating a new Herobear and the Kid series for BOOM! Studios, and IDW has announced a comics adaptation of the Cartoon Network show Dexter’s Laboratory.
