The Picks:
Glorkian Warrior Delivers A Pizza SC – First Second releases a new James Kochalka graphic novel. Instead of another night in front of the TV, the Glorkian Warrior decides he and his trusty talking backpack need to go on an adventure, and sets out to deliver a pizza. It’s a clams and peanut butter pizza, so they don’t know who will want it, but Glorkian Warrior is determined to deliver it, while backpack just tries to keep him out of trouble—or save him from himself. Filled with plenty of super icky gross-out humor and ludicrously bad decisions, this title will tickle the funny bone of any young to tween readers.
Rocky And Bullwinkle #1 – A classic cartoon from the 60s returns in comics form to entertain a whole new generation. Bullwinkle the Moose and Rocket J. Squirrel, aka Rocky and Bullwinkle, begin a whole new set of adventures in their hometown of Frostbite Falls by facing off with their old nemeses, the evil Boris and Natasha. The slippery spies are trying to dupe a wealthy philanthropist, and it’s up to Rocky and Bullwinkle to stop them. Then the Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman, Dudley Do-Right, tries to woo the beautiful Nell—but could this be the chance Snidely Whiplash needs to get away? The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show was a staple for me growing up, so it great seeing it brought back and updated ever so slightly for kids today. This is a great book for both kids and adults.
