The Picks:

Smurfs, volume 17: The Lazy Smurf SC – Papercutz puts a smurfy spin on an American classic. After awakening from an especially refreshing nap, Lazy Smurf discovers that 100 years have gone by. The whole village has changed, and not for the better, with only elderly smurfs hobbling around. With Lazy being the only one young enough to get the chores done, he finds himself having to do something that isn’t his strong suit: Work! Lazy must discover the truth before disaster—and Gargamel—strike. Washington Irving’s classic tale of Rip Van Winkle gets the Smurf treatment in this retelling that also shows kids the importance of responsibility. This book would be a great addition to any elementary and middle school libraries.

Amazing Agent Luna Omnibus Volume 4 TP – Seven Seas Entertainment’s original shojo-spy series takes a dark turn in the latest omnibus. An ultimatum is given to Luna’s control agent, Jennifer Kajiwara: Either Luna succeeds on her newest mission or Project Luna will be terminated—permanently. But as Luna delves deeper into the shadowy organization know as Knightfall, not only is her mission at risk, but so is her makeshift family, sending her down a dark path from which she may never return. This omnibus collects Amazing Agent Luna volumes 8 and 9 and directly ties in with events from the two-volume prequel Amazing Agent Jennifer, though the story still stands on its own without reading it. Amazing Agent Luna is one of the most successful of the OEL manga titles and is still going strong. It’s great for a tween library or collection.
