The Picks:
Adventure Time Volume 3 Seeing Red GN – Marceline is the subject of the newest Adventure Time original graphic novel. Marceline usually skips her family reunions, but she left her axe behind last time and wants to retrieve it. She gets Jake the dog to go with her into the Nightosphere, hoping the trip won’t be a complete drag. Unknown to her, though, her dad has made some decisions while she has been gone, making this visit a roller coaster ride of family, friends, and communication. Marceline is a great character, so it’s cool that she’s getting the spotlight. More Marceline and her dad Hunson is always a good thing.
Dumbest Idea Ever GN – Amelia Rules’ Jimmy Gowley shares a story from his own life that changed it forever. Things were going well for Jimmy: At thirteen, he was top of his class and the leading scorer on his basketball team. But all that changed when the chicken pox forced him to miss the championship game, and pneumonia made him miss even more school. His grades were sinking, and it seemed that nothing was going right. Then, what seemed like the dumbest idea ever turned around to become the best thing that ever happened to him. Gownley’s story of going from eager-to-please boy to teenage comic book artist is sure to appeal to other aspiring comic book artists and may even reach kids who are down and pull them back up.
