Links: Buzz, Archie, and My Little Pony

Archie Comics is teaming up with Toys for Tots this holiday season, and by “teaming up” I don’t just mean promoting them in the comics (although that’s happening too): The publisher has donated over $1 million worth of comics and graphic novels to the charity, and they plan to have an ongoing relationship.

There’s a new My Little Pony series in the works.

It’s Archie Week at Graphic Novel Resources, and they’re kicking it off with a look at Will You Marry Me?, the graphic novel in which Archie marries Betty and Veronica (in separate storylines).

Israeli creators Rutu Modan (Maya Makes a Mess) and Yirmi Pinkus have set up a new publishing company, Noah’s Library, to publish children’s graphic novels; they are kicking it off with a revival of two classic Israeli children’s comics characters.

For those who like to think ahead, Diamond’s Bookshelf newsletter has a list of recommended graphic novels that are coming out in the next few months, broken down into four age categories.

Doug Gibson of the Mountain Express has a shorter list of five graphic novels with kid appeal.
