The Picks:
Beware The Batman #1 – The Caped Crusader returns the pages of all ages comics with this new series based on the cartoon. Bruce Wayne, after spending several years learning crime-fighting techniques from his butler and former secret agent Alfred Pennyworth, takes on Gotham City’s criminal underground as the Batman, joined by Alfred’s goddaughter, swordmaster Tatsu Yamashiro, and familiar and not-so-familiar villains. This new incarnation of Batman takes the crime fighter back to his detective roots, with more procedural stories and a real support team in Alfred and Tatsu. It’s Batman like you’ve never seen him! Fans of the cartoon, or just Batman in general, should check out this issue.
Samurai Jack #1 – The popular cartoon character from the 00s returns in an all new ongoing series. A legendary samurai is transported to a strange future where a demonic wizard named Aku rules. Jack, as he is now known, is stranded and must find a way to return to the past. His search leads him to an ancient relic known as the Rope of Eons, but can they finally get him home? Samurai Jack was among the cartoons that, along with Power Puff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory, gained a large following at the time. Picking up where the Samurai’s adventure ended, fans old and new will want to pick up this issue.
