This Week’s Comics: Powerpuff Bones
Fall is finally in the air, making it a great time to settle down with some good comics. Halloween is fast approaching, and as usual it is heralded by Bongo Comics’ Simpsons Treehouse of Horror. Dark Horse Comics releases the second issue of Itty Bitty Hellboy for some scary fun for the little kids, while the bigger kids can play dress up with the first volume of the new Papercutz title Stardoll.

The Picks:
Powerpuff Girls #1 – IDW brings back some old friends with a new series. Back in the 90s, the Powerpuff Girls became a popular franchise with kids and adults, and now they’re back to wow a new generation. Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup return to the streets of Townsville, protecting the citizens from the meanest of the mean and the ugliest of the ugly. The first villain they have to take on? The evil monkey Mojo Jojo! IDW did a great job with My Little Pony, creating stories that appealed to both boys and girls, kids and adults. I expect they will do the same with Powerpuff Girls. Don’t miss this first issue!
Sherlock Bones Volume 1 GN – Kodansha jumps on the Sherlock Holmes bandwagon with what is probably the cutest incarnation of the great detective. Sherlock Holmes has been reincarnated as a dog and adopted by a young boy, Takeru. Somehow able to communicate with “Sherdog,” Takeru becomes his Dr. Watson and assists Holmes in uncovering clues to solve the trickiest crimes. New interpretations of Sherlock Holmes have been popular lately, and this title is a great addition that tweens and teens, as well as adults, will enjoy.
