The Picks:
Genie The Genius #1 – Ape Entertainment releases another fun series for younger readers. A trip to the museum sends fifth-grader Andy Andrews on the adventure of a lifetime, when he frees a junior-level genie from a dusty old lamp. They travel back in time to the Cretaceous to see live dinosaurs, all in the name of homework, taking pictures and having a blast along the way. But there is also plenty of danger on the land, sea, and air! This mini-series has a lot of elements that kids love: magic, adventure, and dinosaurs. It fits in with Ape Entertainment’s other titles in their Kidzoic line and will appeal to elementary to young tween readers.
Halloween Legion The Great Goblin Invasion HC – Dark Horse starts the Halloween hijinks early in this new adventure. There is a place where it is always October, and Halloween is in the air. From this eternal October comes a team of extraordinary guardians who protect the sleepy rural town of Woodland from supernatural menaces. Whether it’s Mummies raising undead alligators or floating heads, The Skeleton, the Witch, the Ghost, and the Devil are always there to protect the residents. But can they defend the town from a full-on UFO invasion? Mixing the action of superheroes with spooky creatures from Halloween lore has created a fun adventure story that tweens to teens will enjoy.
