The Picks:
Superman Family Adventures #12 (Final Issue) – Pay your final respects to this final issue of Superman Family Adventures. Back by popular demand, the lunch lady, aka Darkseid returns! But, has he returned for good or for evil? Will the Super family be trapped in Apokolips when they leap into action? Will Darkseid make them pancakes? It is sad to have to bid this series farewell. It was well liked by both critics and kids, but apparently not popular enough for DC. With this title over, DC once again has no superhero titles in print for the tween and under crowd, which is the crowd you would think they would want to be courting. Hopefully DC will come to their senses soon and rectify this error.
Thea Stilton Volume 1 The Secret Of Whale Island HC – Papercutz introduces a new series featuring Geronimo Stilton’s journalist sister Thea! Thea Stilton is a famous, adventuring journalist just like her brother Geronimo. She also has fans! The Thea sisters are five college students at Mouseford Academy on Whale Island, who want to be just like their real-life hero. It is the start of the new school year, and students are returning to Mouseford Academy. It is also the time of year when the whales move off the coast of Whale Island. This year though, a savage killer whale appears to threaten the otherwise peaceful move but the Thea Sisters are on it! These fun, lively girls are finding adventure between classes and friendships, love, and small fits of jealousy. With great female leads and down-to-earth stories, Thea Stilton looks to be a good complement to Geronimo and his time-traveling adventures. Schools up to 6th grade should give this title a test drive.
