Preview: Ernest & Rebecca, vol. 4

March 30, 2013 by Brigid Alverson   1 comments

Ernest & Rebecca is an unusual series. Translated from the French, it’s the story of a little girl who is sort of sickly, and her friend who is a germ. It’s a cute fantasy tale, but it’s set against the backdrop of family problems, as Rebecca’s parents separate during the course of the series. Volume 4 finds her staying with her father in the country; she meets a boy, and her sister moves out, so things are still changing. Here’s a look at the first few pages, and if that piques your interest, the book went on sale earlier this month.

At my school, this series has really caught on with the girls from grades 3 to 5; they can’t get enough of it. The third grade teacher has complained to me that she’s tired of seeing the Ernest & Rebecca books in her classroom practically every day.
