The Picks:
Olympians Volume 5 Poseidon Earth Shaker GN – First Second reaches the 5th volume of their excellent series Olympians! The latest book about the Greek Gods from George O’Connor focuses on Poseidon, the King of the Seas and Earth Shaker. Read famous myths about Theseus and the Minotaur, Odysseus and Polyphemos, the founding of Athens, and how Poseidon came to lord over the Oceans. The Olympians! series has been a fantastic read, and this latest entry is no different. O’Connor has a fascinating take on this most mysterious god and spins a great story that tries to explain who he is and why. Also check out my review of this volume here at Good Comics for Kids!
Johnny Boo Volume 5 Johnny Boo Does Something HC – Johnny Boo is back and Top Shelf has got him! The most dreaded thing a parent can hear from their kid is “There nothing to do.” Johnny Boo shows there’s always something to do! In this volume he has a Boring Adventure and discovers Yawn Power, writes an angry letter to Ice Cream Magazine, gets a squiggly new hairdo, falls to the bottome of Ice Cream Hole #25 and celebrates the maybe-birthday of his pet ghost Squiggle! Whew! That’s a lot of nothing-to-do’s. James Kolchalka continues to entertain kids and parents alike with Johnny Boo and his incredibly inventive stories. Elementary libraries and collections will want this if they haven’t started a Johnny Boo collection already!
