NFL Rush Zone Season Of The Guardians #1 – The popular cartoon from Nicktoons gets its own ongoing comic from Action Lab Entertainment! Ish, short for Ishmael, is the first NFL Guardian, protector of the 32 Megacores of the NFL. He possesses the strange power known as the Rush Zone. With the help of his friends, a cast of NFL personalities, and the ever-loyal Rusherz, a race of humanoid alien beings who resemble the NFL teams logos, Ish battles a horde of Blitz Botz and their megalomaniacal overlord Wild Card. Not being a fan of football, and having kids that do not watch Nicktoons, I was completely unaware of this cartoon series. It seems to be doing well, having started a second season, and now this new ongoing series. But with the popularity of football in the US, it really comes as no surprise. Fans of the cartoon, and football fans everywhere will no doubt enjoy this title. This first issue also comes with variant covers for all 32 NFL teams.
Pantalones TX Don’t Chicken Out HC – Archaia Entertainment releases the wacky with this new graphic novel from animator Yehudi Mercado. In the rural Texas town of Pantalones, a band of misfit kids led by Chico Bustamante spend their time trying to outwit, outrun, and out-prank the ever-vigilant, taco-truck-riding Sheriff Cornwallis. That is, until Chico meets the Sheriff’s giant chicken. He aims to ride the Chicken or die trying! Filled with spoof ads and a story in the vein of Adventure Time and the Simpsons, Pantalones TX will appeal to both boys and girls as well as their parents. This is a great title for elementary to teen libraries and collections.
