Cartoon Network Comes to Your LCS via IDW!

February 25, 2013 by Lori Henderson   Leave a Comment

IDW Publishing and Cartoon Network Enterprises announced today that the two companies have teamed up to produce and release comics based on Cartoon Network’s many popular and classic characters. This year will see the return of characters from such classic shows as The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, Generator Rex, Ben 10 and many more.

This partnership will not only allow IDW to create new stories and adventures for these iconic characters but will also allow them to reprint the many previous incarnations of Cartoon Network comics. Details have yet to be announced on specific titles and creative teams, but this news is a boon for all ages comics readers, what with so many cancellation notices coming from other publishers lately. It’s also a great way to introduce a whole new audience to these beloved characters.

IDW Publishing is no stranger to adapting TV and movies to comics. They have produced comics for such properties as The Transformers, G.I. Joe, Star Trek, True Blood, Doctor Who and Godzilla. They hit it big recently with all ages readers with adaption of The Hub’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. With such a strong track record, it makes sense for Cartoon Network to make this move to bring back to life so many of their iconic characters for both the old and new generations of fans.

Look forward to seeing new and classic comics from this wealth of fun properties at your local comic book store later this year, and watch the All Ages Comics and Manga List to find out when they hit!
