The Picks:
Deltora Quest Volume 10 GN – Kodansha completes the quest with this final volume. Lief and his companions are down to the last two gems to complete the Belt of Deltora. They must still face their most dangerous trails yet in the Maze of the Beast and the Valley of the Lost. But they still will not be able to defeat the Shadow Lord and free Deltora from his grasp unless they can find the heir to Deltora. This volume wraps up the first series of Deltora Quest. Sadly, none of the other Deltora titles have received the manga adaptation treatment. The Deltora series is great for tweens and teens, though any fantasy lover will enjoy Lief, his friends and their journey. Check out the whole series now that it’s complete.
Chickenhare TP – Scholastic gives new life to this older web comic by Chris Grine. Chickenhare, the cross between a chicken and rabbit, is one of the rarest animals around. After being caught and sold to the evil taxidermist Klaus, he and his friend, the bearded turtle Abe, must find a way to escape before they’re turned into stuffed animals. Joined by two other strange creatures, Banjo and Meg, the unlikely quartet begin life on the run. With Klaus and his thugs hot on their trail, the adventure has only begun! Chickenhare was a black and white webcomic started in 2006. This new edition from Scholastic is in full color and re-introduces Chickenhare to a new class of kids that will enjoy the fun and adventure this strange creature and his friends have to offer.
