The Picks:
Emily And The Strangers #1 – The girl who always looks strange returns to Dark Horse comics. Emily is determined to win a legendary haunted guitar. So, with the help of her trio of trouble-making cats, she works to make the most rockin’ song the world has ever known. But can she do it solo? Emily started out as an advertising mascot for the clothing line Cosmic Debris but has become a popular character in her own right. She’s had her own comics series, novels, and even a video game in the UK! With her Gothic nature and own style, and of course, her cats, she is quite popular with the tween to teen crowd. This new series should be no different.

Courtney Crumrin #9 – Courtney Crumrin’s ongoing series keeps rolling along for Oni Press. In this issue, things continue to not go well for Courtney. She has decided to stay with the Duchess the Twilight Kingdom, but that won’t stop Aloysius, who is determined to get Courtney back. To make matters worse, the council has been less than honest regarding their intentions for Courtney and Aloysius. It’s not going to end well for someone. Courtney Crumrin is a clever, well written title, and going to an ongoing floppy format hasn’t done anything to change that. This is another great title for tweens and teens, and Courtney is a great protagonist.
