The Picks:
Old McMonsters Haunted Farm Bride Of Porkula GN – Ape Entertainment celebrates Halloween with some scary fun. Virginia Hamm must travel to Porksilvania to claim the estate of her late uncle, Otto McMonster. Joining her are her friends Herford Bovis and Bill E. Goat. But things won’t be so easy for the trio, as they must face such monsters as Count Porkula, Beefenstein, Mr. Gruff, and a host of other ghosts and ghouls. This light-hearted take on the classic movie monsters will no doubt thrill younger readers and even entertain older monster movie fans.
Simpsons Illustrated #4 – Bongo revisits some Simpsons Halloween classic tales. This seasonal showcase brings back some of the best “Treehouse of Horror” stories from Halloweens gone by. In “Little Shop of Homers,” the Simpsons must deal with a ravenous alien plant species. Apu is transported to another world where he must join forces with Kang to overthrow the despotic ruler on Rigel VII, who is surprisingly familiar, and in an homage to Edgar Allen Poe, Moe exacts a pound of flesh from Homer in “The Cask of Amontilla-D’oh.” The “Treehouse of Horror” stories are always a lot of fun with great twists. Fans of the Simpson or horror/suspense stories will enjoy this issue.
