The Picks:

Lio Volume 1 There’s A Monster In My Socks TP – Andrews McMeel Publishing brings out some creepy fun for kids, just in time for Halloween! Lio is not your average boy. Outsmarting the monsters under his bed, dealing with giant pet snakes, and building robots from the trash can are all commonplace for this most uncommon young man. Originally published as comic strips, these mostly wordless comics have been reconfigured for younger readers. Kids will love watching Lio outsmarting adults as well as the monsters. While sometimes bizarre and twisted, this book is right out of a kid’s imagination, and is perfect for any library and/or collection.

That One Spooky Night GN – Kids Can Press releases some spooky tales for a spooky night’s fun! In these three tales of Halloween adventure, kids accidentally cross the border from the natural into a world of the supernatural where a broom can go in search of a witch, where mermaids can swim in a bathtub and a house party can get a little too batty, and all of this happens on one night. One SPOOKY night! With sometimes harrowing, but almost always humorous stories and art to fit, this book would be a perfect addition to any elementary school library or Halloween collection.
