The Picks:
Christmas Carol The Night That Changed The Life Of Eliza Scrooge HC – A Christmas classic gets a fresh twist. Scrooge is a woman! Miserly Eliza Scrooge is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future one fateful Christmas eve. I don’t usually start looking at Christmas books until at least after Halloween, but this title really deserved to be called out. It’s adapted and illustrated by Rod Espinosa, the creator of The Courageous Princess, so readers can expect an easily accessible story and well rendered art. Dark Horse is offering this title in hardback, making it a perfect gift for early shoppers!
Wrinkle In Time GN – The Newbery Medal winning story finally gets a graphic adaptation! Siblings Meg and Charles Wallace Murry, with their friend Calvin O’Keefe, must go on a journey when they learn that Mr. Murry has been captured by the Dark Thing. They travel through time and space to Camazotz and face the leader IT in the ultimate battle between good and evil, in which not just their lives but the fate of the whole universe hangs in the balance! Hope Larson, creator of titles such as Chiggers, adapted and illustrated the story, and she takes it to a new level with her interpretation. This title is sure to not disappoint old fans and will no doubt win some new ones!
