The Picks:
Legends Of Zita The Spacegirl GN – Zita returns for more sci-fi fun! Picking up where the first volume left off, Zita is trying to find her way back to earth. But her exploits from her first adventure have made her an intergalactic megastar! While that sounds great, Zita discovers fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and it doesn’t come without a price. Her true self is being eclipsed by her public image, while a robot doppelganger is wreaking havoc. Navigating this intractable mess of mistaken identity and alien invaders would be impossible for most anyone else, but not the indomitable Zita! Boys and girls alike with enjoy this new space adventure, something I don’t think we can get enough of! It’s perfect for tweens and up.
Drama GN – Raina Telgemeier, creator of the award-winning Smile, returns with a title filled with friendship, crushes and lots of drama! Callie loves theater, even though she’s a terrible singer. She instead participates in her middle school’s production of “Moon over Mississippi” by being the set designer for the stage crew. But can they put on a show worthy of Broadway on a middle school budget, Callie’s lack of carpentry skills, low ticket sales, and crew members unable to work together? Things don’t get any better once the cast is set and the drama onstage and offstage begins. Things become even crazier when two cute brothers join the production! Raina Telgemeier has a real talent for reaching tweens and teens, and this title sure to be another one kids will want to snatch up. This is a must for middle school libraries and tween collections.
