Interview: Cecil Castellucci

On May 4th through 6th, while attending the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, I ran around to as many of my favorite kids comics creators as I could and asked them all the exact same questions. Keep in mind, exhibit halls are crazy loud and crazy busy (even when they’re held in a library), so there is a lot of background noise. Let me know in the comments if you have trouble hearing anything and I’ll translate for you.

Cecil Castellucci has done a little bit of everything. Probably best known in libraries as a YA author, she’s known in the comics community for being A) a big-time comics fan, B) for being the author of The Plain Janes, one of the most successful titles of DC’s now-defunct Minx line of graphic novels, and C) for getting herself involved in some really interesting projects, including the one she did with Nate Powell called The Year of the Beasts, a prose/comics hybrid. Here, watch this and let her explain for herself what she’s up to:
