The Picks:
Road To Oz #1 – Marvel continues its highly successful line of Oz adaptations with this, the fifth book in the series. Dorothy and Toto are off on another fantastic adventure as the dusty Kansas road turn into magical highways. Searching for one that will lead them back to Oz, Dorothy is joined by an old homeless man with a magic magnet and a mentally-challenged child named Button-Bright. Skottie Young’s energetic art and Eric Shanower’s adept adaptations have really helped to revive this series and shows how much more rich the Oz universe is than just the 1939 movie. This series is a must for any all ages collection.
Amelia Rules Volume 8 Her Permanent Record – It’s been a great ride, but like all good things, Amelia’s adventures are coming to an end in this final volume. While Amelia has weathered her share of storms, life seems to be sailing smoothly until Aunt Tanner disappears because of a tell-all book by an ex-boyfriend. Amelia goes into full panic mode and decides to go in search of her. Boarding a bus with Frenemy Rhonda, and some help from a certain boy she never thought she’d see again, she begins an epic journey that starts with the lesson that life is never done with surprises. It’s been an amazing ten years and seven volumes with this spunky girl, and this volume looks to be no different. No tween or teen collection will be complete without this series.
