The Picks:
Adventure Time #5 – Boom Studios’ incredibly popular series continues with its second story arc. Jake and Finn start out competing for a “cup cake” but realize they enjoy their teamwork more. But will their alliance last in the face of pink frosting goodness? This issue also features backup stories by Chris Roberson and his eight-year-old daughter Georgia with a one page strip about the Ice King, and another by Paul Pope about what happens when Finn and Jake find a hole in time and space. With the promise of more random stories and wonderfully weird characters, Adventure Time is a series every kid—and kid at heart—should check out!
Hero Petz GN – Stan Lee’s Kids Universe pulls a one-two punch with its second new series in as many weeks! Peludo City is under constant threat from the ninja weasels of the Itachi Clan, who want to take over the city. It’s a good thing the Hero Petz are there! This band of superhero animals take it upon themselves to watch over the city and protect the innocent from the dangerous, furry, and cunning criminals and their villanous plots. Pets as superheroes is nothing new, but they are always entertaining! Elementary and middle school libraries and collections should give this title a once over.
