The first week in April brings a nice shower of titles. DC Comics releases two of their non-superhero all ages books, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? The Picks:
Summer Camp Science Mysteries Volume1 In Search Of The Fog Zombie GN – Science and a mystery in one story—two great things that go great together! When nine-year-old twins Angie and Alex Rayex arrive at Camp Dakota, the rumors start flying: There is a Fog Zombie prowling the area through the thick fog that settles on the lake. The kids are skeptical at first, until they start to find mysterious notes and clues that lead to the possibility of the zombie’s existence. They will have to use their science smarts to get to the truth. My younger daughter’s struggles with science this year may be coloring my selection, but science really is an important subject, and anything that will make it more fun and interesting to kids will alway get my endorsement. Besides a fun story, this title also has experiments at the back of the book to further interest and entertain kids. Elementary and middle school libraries and collections should check this series out. Also check out the review by Snow here at GCFK!
Pokémon The Movie White: Victini and Zekrom – The first completely Pokémon Black and White movie adaptation comes out from Viz! While visiting the town of Eindoak, Ash and his friends meet the Victory Pokémon Victini. But someone else lurking in town wants to trap Victini and use its powers for his own misguided plans. Ash must find and awaken the legendary Pokémon Zekrom, the spirit of Ideals, in order to save him. While this volume is called White, it does feature the black legendary Pokémon Zekrom. With only slight differences from the movie, this adaptation is perfect for Pokémon fans. Older elementary and middle school libraries and collections will want to add this to their Pokémon collection, or even use it to start one!
