All ages comics and manga for 3/21/12
Spring starts this week, and as we say good-bye to winter, so must we also say good-bye to Tiny Titans, whose last issue comes out this week. But with the new green that comes with spring, comes new titles: Archie debuts their new series with legendary comic creator Stan Lee, and his Mighty 7, and Zenescope Entertainment, a publisher not usually associated with all ages titles, has teamed up with a company well-known to parents and teachers, Jump Start. The Picks:
Young Miss Holmes Collection Volume 1 – Seven Seas releases a new mystery for all ages! Christie Holmes is no ordinary ten-year-old. Already familiar with the sciences and classics, she is a prodigy that can rival any older student at Cambridge or Oxford. And it’s of little surprise, since her uncle is the famous consulting detective Sherlock Holmes! Left in the care of maids and servants while her parents are away in India, Christie and her giant hound Nelson find their way into dangerous adventures and join forces with Uncle Sherlock and Doctor Watson. This much-anticipated license finally gives mystery lovers something new to sink their teeth into. And with an age-appropriate rating, young mystery fans old and new can go places with Christie that they haven’t been able to with Conan and Case Closed.
Axe Cop Volume 3 – The comic written by a six-year-old and drawn by his thirty-year-old, Eisner-nominated brother returns with a new collection. This volume features 8 stories including the Halloween story “The Night Monster,” “The Power of Christmas,” and a crossover special “Stolen Pizza, Stolen Lives,” with fellow webcomics superstar Dr. McNinja! My daughter assures me that Dr. McNinja is also a good read. Axe Cop is so crazy and unpredictable, kids and adults can’t help but be drawn to it. And with comrades such as Uni-baby, Bat Warthog Man, and Dinosaur Soldier, the appeal is easy to see. Don’t miss adding this zaniness to your library!
