The Picks:

Puss In Boots Movie Prequel – Because you can’t keep a good cat to just one medium! This exclusive original graphic novel is a prequel to the hit movie. Puss enters a secret sword fighting competition to determine who’s the best with a blade. He must take on the likes of a rabid rooster known as El Pollo Mas Rapido and Chuey the chihuahua cat burglar if he wants to take the top prize. Also included is a bonus story where Puss tries to unravel the mystery of the Maltese Gato. Kids who enjoyed the movie will love this book as will fans of the swashbuckling pussycat.

Princess Knight Volume 1 – A classic Japanese girls’ comic from the godfather of manga, Osamu Tezuka, finally makes its debut on US shores. Set in a medieval fairy-tale world, young princess Sapphire must pretend to be a male so she can inherit the throne. Instead of being discouraged by her new role, she embraces it and becomes a dashing hero(ine) for the people. Heavily inspired by the works of Walt Disney, Princess Knight is considered one of the first major shojo works, and was the inspiration for such titles as Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon. This title is a must for any middle school or high school library collection.
