October is swiftly drawing to a close (a little too swiftly for my tastes). Get a last taste of the summer season with some Strawberry Shortcarke Berry Fun from Ape Entertainment. Or if politics is more your taste, check out Archie Comics’ Obama and Palin in Riverdale trade. To prepare for the tiny terrors that will soon be knocking at your door, pick up the next volume of Gon from Kodansha Comics.

The Picks:

Tiny Titans #45 – The Tiny Titans have gone batty! Batty for Batgirl anyway. This is a special issue that features Batgirl, including Cassandra, Stephanie, Flamebird and, of course Barbara! Find out what happens when the girls take over the Batcave! Also included in this issue is a bonus story featuring Coach Lobo and his Secret Soccer team versus The Birds of Prey! You GO-O-O-A-A-AL girls! Tiny Titans is full of fun for the younger readers and stays diverse enough for both boys and girls to enjoy.

Nursery Rhyme Comics 50 Timeless Rhymes From 50 Celebrated Cartoonists – First Second introduces a groundbreaking treasury of nursery rhymes for a new generation. Bringing  together 50 of today’s preeminent cartoonists and illustrators, such as Roz Chast of the New Yorker, Bad Kitty author Nick Bruel, and First Second’s own Gene Yang, First Second has created a collection of nursery rhymes unlike any other. Featuring rhymes such as “There Was a Crooked Man,” “Three Little Kittens,” and “Pat-a-Cake,” each rhyme is simply paneled and lettered and is only one to three pages long, keeping it in reach of even the youngest of readers. Kids of all ages will enjoy this collection and treasure it for years to come.
