The Picks:
Strawberry Shortcake Berry Fun #1 – Ape Entertainment brings back a popular kid’s property from the 80s. Strawberry Shortcake started out as scented dolls that, like so many toys in the 80s, got its own cartoon. 25 years later, these sweet friends return with their own comic mini series. In this first issue, Strawberry Shortcake’s friends think she’s going to Luau Island to solve a tropical dilemma. But as the residents of Berry Bitty City get excited about the trip, they forget to check some facts. This first issue will also feature incentive Strawberry scented scratch and sniff covers. This is a good starter book to get girls into comics, especially in elementary, as the characters and stories are geared more toward them than tweens-teens.
Roger Langridge’s Snarked #0 – See Lewis Carroll’s characters like you’ve never seen them before! Roger Langridge, known for his work on recent popular all ages titles The Muppet Show and Thor: The Mighty Avenger has created a new series that takes place in Lewis Carrol’s imaginative world. This introduction to the new series features an 8 page story about the Walrus and the Carpenter from Through the Looking Glass as well as lots of behind-the-scenes material. Filled with side-splitting humor, this title is sure to be a hit with both kids and adults. And at $1, it’s definitely worth a look!
