All ages comics and manga for 3/09/11

March 11, 2011 by Lori Henderson   Leave a Comment

I can’t believe spring break is already here! The kids get two weeks of lounging around at house while the parents have to slave away at work. It seems so unfair. Our only revenge, make the kids read! This week Graphix has the new volume of Missile Mouse. Marvel has more adventures with Thor, and the next volume of the Power Pack Classic trade. Papercutz’ Disney Fairies takes Tinker Bell back to her origin with a Pirate Adventure, and a Neil Gaiman poem is illustrated and in soft back for mothers and children to enjoy.

The List:

ARCHIE COMICS
Betty & Veronica Friends Double Digest #212, $3.99
Jugheads Double Digest #168, $3.99
Veronica #205, $2.99

BOOM! STUDIOS
Donald Duck #364, $3.99

DC COMICS
All-New Batman The Brave And The Bold #5, $2.99

GRAPHIX
Missile Mouse Volume 2 Rescue On Tankium3 GN, $10.99
Pilot & Huxley First Adventure TP, $7.99 ^^AA Pick^^

HARPER COLLINS
Blueberry Girl SC (by Neil Gaiman), $6.99

MARVEL COMICS
Marvel Adventures Thor Bringers Of The Storm Digest TP, $9.99
Power Pack Classic Volume 3 TP, $29.99

PAPERCUTZ
Disney Fairies Volume 5 Tinker Bell And The Pirate Adventure GN, $6.99

VERTICAL
Twin Spica Volume 6 GN, $10.95 ^^AA Pick^^

The Picks:

Pilot & Huxley First Adventure – Just in time for spring break, Graphix releases a book that kids will love. Best buddies Pilot and Huxley get zapped to another dimension by aliens who want to take over the Earth. While trying to get home, they must traverse a swamp of bees, battle a sea monster, and end up in the nose of a giant dragon. Their only way out? Help from a girl who can transform into a monster. Kids will love this blend of silly characters and gross humor. With similar elements to shows like South Park and SpongeBob Squarepants, it hard to think that kids won’t want to snatch this title up. Adults who also enjoy those shows will probably enjoy this title too.

Twin Spica Volume 6 – More obstacles appear as Asumi continues to strive for her dream to become an astronaut. As flight training continues, Asumi and her classmates are put into small escape pods to simulate traveling through space and re-entry before having to go through some grueling survival training. It will take everything they’ve learned so far to make it through. And then it’s mid-terms, with a new element to tackle, language training. The story of Asumi and her friends journey to become astronauts continues to be an engrossing and entertaining read. Tweens and teens will love the personal drama and tense action as Asumi and her friends struggle to overcome their own problems to fulfill their dreams.
