The Picks:
20000 Leagues Under The Sea GN – Jules Verne is often referred to as the father of science fiction. This title is one of his best known. A mysterious sea monster has been wrecking havoc in the ocean, destroying ships and killing people. The US Government puts together a team of experts to stop the destruction. Professor Pierre Aronnax, marine biologist and his faithful assistant Conseil, and Canadian master harpooner Ned Land set out to track down the terrifying beast. Kids will enjoy the action and adventure of this undersea story with sea monsters and a giant submarine which also introduces one of fiction’s best known sea captains, Captain Nemo.
Journey To The Center Of Earth GN – The adventure goes underground in this Jules Verne sci-fi classic. After many hours of studying a mysterious manuscript, Professor Von Hardwigg and his nephew Henry finally decipher it’s hidden code. Dating back to the 16th century by an Icelandic philosoper, it claims to have found a passage to the center of the Earth. The two men, with their guid Hans Bjelke, set out to climb Mount Sneffels to discover if the manuscript is a hoax, or the greatest scientific discovery of the day. It’s another exciting adventure that kids will enjoy with the explorers moving through the geologic ages from the dinosaurs to the ice age.
