The Picks:
Megamind #1 – This four-issue mini-series continues the adventures of Megamind, a brilliant super villain with a less than successful track record. In this first issue, Megamind hatches a plan to usurp nemesis Metro Dude at his crowning as the imminent prom king. His plan goes awry, and he’s force to challenge the teenaged superhero to a dance off in front of the entire class. The movie Megamind was a hit with kids and parents, so this mini-series, which continues Megamind’s misadventures, should be a hit as well. The twist of following the super villain instead of superhero, and comedy that comes when things go terribly wrong should bring a smile to any kid’s face.

Sam and Friends Mystery Volume 1: Dracula Madness GN – Sam is a sheepdog with a nose for sniffing out a mystery. Jennie is Sam’s next-door neighbor, and has a special connection to her; she can read Sam’s thoughts. Together with Jennie’s friend Beth, they check out the creepiest house in town, where the dog detective smells a mystery. Is the owner of the McIver really Dracula? Sam takes her friends on an adventure to find out the truth. This mystery has just enough spookiness to appeal to kids without being too frightening, while the three strong females leads should make it appealing to girls.
