It’s the second to last list of the year, and there’s still plenty of variety. Whether a kid’s interest in is TV, Movies, or Video Games, there a comic to fit almost any taste. Bongo Comics and DC Comics make turning the TV off easier with Simpsons and Cartoon Network based books. Boom! Studios has the movies covered with a new Toy Story issue, and Archie Comics and DC Comics satisfy the need for video game stories with Sonic the Hedgehog and Ratchet and Clank. But if you want your kid completely unplugged, there are still plenty of non-licensed titles from Ape Entertainment, Lerner Publishing and Marvel Comics. And don’t forget to check out the picks!

The Picks:

Three Thieves volume 1: Tower of Treasure – Troubling memories lead 14-year-old orphan Dessa on an adventure of a lifetime! An acrobat in a traveling circus, Dessa holds out hope that she will be able to find her twin brother, who was taken away from her by a mysterious man when they were children. In the city of Kingsbridge she hopes to find a clue. But in the meantime, she is recruited by the circus juggler, Topper to help him and the strongman Fisk, rob the royal treasury. They end up on a series of adventures that take them from one end of the world to the other in search of Dessa’s long-lost brother. Filled plenty of action, and just fantasy enough to please fans without alienating non-fantasy readers, this first volume will appeal to both boys and girls. It’s a great addition to a middle school library.

Chi’s Sweet Home volume 4 – This volume starts a new chapter in Chi’s life with the Yamadas. After three volumes of trying to hide Chi from their landlady, the Yamadas have decided to move into a new apartment that welcomes pets. Chi will now have to survive the terrifying-sounding movers, adjusting to a new place, and making new friends with all the new animals she will meet. But can she survive living next door to a dog? And what about Blackie? This volume expands Chi’s world with new animals to interact with and places to explore. This is a great jumping on point for anyone who may have missed out on the previous volumes or thought the kitten overload would be too much.
