Preview: Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers
Chip ‘n’ Dale, two rascally chipmunks from the Disney stable, made their animated debut in 1943 but mostly played second fiddle to Mickey, Goofy and their companions until they got their own series, Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers, in the late 1980s.
Disney reinvented the duo as detectives for the animated series, which had a second life on DVD as well as becoming a video game. Now Boom! Studios is bringing them back as comics, with a series written by Ian Brill (Darkwing Duck) and illustrated by Leonel Castellani (Marvel Superhero Squad).
This first issue, which went on sale in comics shops yesterday, takes the rescue rangers on a thrilling ride through an alligator-filled sewer as they try to figure out what is making the other animals act crazy. This preview, though, starts out with a gentle flashback to Gadget Love’s childhood. Enjoy!
