Preview: Yo Gabba Gabba! Goodnight Gabba Land

Francoise Mouly may have brought comics to the early-reader set with her Toon Books line, but Oni Press is going all the way back to the nursery with their new board-book comics based on the children’s TV show Yo Gabba Gabba.

I have never heard of anyone doing comics in a board book format before, so this may be a historic moment. Two books are debuting in comics stores this week: Yo Gabba Gabba! Goodnight Gabba Land, written by J. Torres (Alison Dare, Lola: A Ghost Story) and illustrated by Matt Loux (Salt Water Taffy), and Yo Gabba Gabba: Gabba Ball, written and illustrated by YGG animator Chris Eliopoulos. Oni also plans to release a Yo Gabba Gabba anthology, on regular paper and with work by Torres and other well known artists including Evan Dorkin and Jamie S. Rich, in December.

OK, you came for the comics, so here you go: A six-page preview of Yo Gabba Gabba! Goodnight Gabba Land. Enjoy!
