The Picks:
Muppets Sherlock Holmes #1 – The Muppets take on another well known genre, this time being placed in the mystery-laden world of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes, played by Gonzo, Dr. Watson, played by Fozzie and Inspector LeStrade, played by Kermit take on “The Adventure of the Speckled Band.” And knowing the Muppets, it’s not the kind of speckled band as seen in the original story. Also included in this issue is a bonus mystery game, “Where’s Moriarity?” This new mini-series combines two great things, the Muppets and Sherlock Holmes, and is sure to create something that makes them great together. Mystery fans of any age are sure to get a kick out of this as well as Muppet fans.
Nancy Drew: The New Case Files Volume 1 Nancy Drew Vampire Slayer – Papercutz restarts Nancy Drew with new case files, and her first case is not to be missed. The “Dielite” novels and movies are creating Vampire-mania among the teenage girls of River Heights. A supposedly “real” handsome young vampire arrives in town, and it’s up to Nancy to expose him as a fraud. Will she be able to do it? Or will she fall under his dark spell? Is all the vampire madness just a distraction from some dark and sinister plot that is happening, and is it related to what’s happening in Bayport, home of the Hardy Boys? While riffing on both Twilight and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, this volume also seems to sets up for a cross-over with the Hardy Boys. It’s also a good title for Halloween, which is coming up very soon.
