Do you hear a mewing? This week’s list has a good mix of fun and fantasy from Archie Comics holding a Beach Party, to the Wizards of Mickey continuing the Grand Tournament, to The Powerpuff Girls and the Imaginary Friends from Foster’s Home working together in one volume to keep the kids out of trouble though this summer season. I’m sure I just heard a mewing. Didn’t you hear it too? With unicorns, superhero pigs and time traveling cats and mice, there’s bound to be something for every one here. I know I heard a mewing! Maybe a look at this week’s picks will solve this mystery.

The Picks:

Luckiest Boy GN – Be careful what you wish for… In this title by Scott Christian Sava, Russell Ranger is the unluckiest 13-year-old boy in the world, until he meets a real leprechaun. Granted one wish, Russell wished to be the luckiest boy in the world! Things seem to be going great as his family wins the lottery and he gets to meet his favorite football star. But, with all the luck in the world going to Russell, the rest of the world is in trouble with earthquakes, stock market crashes, and a meteor headed straight toward the Earth! Can Russell get the leprechaun to take his wish back? Sava has a real knack for creating stories that are run to read and appealing to the kids. This title looks to be no different. Magic, adventure, and a race to save the world makes this a title middle schoolers will love to read.

Chi’s Sweet Home vol 1 – This new manga from Vertical has been highly anticipated by manga fans, though anyone who loves cats and/or entertaining stories will want to read this. Chi is a kitten, who gets separated from his mother and siblings while out of a walk one day. Lost and distraught, he collapses in a park, and is found by Yohei and his mother. They take the kitten home where she sees and experiences new things in a way only a kitten can. Just don’t let the Landlady find out, because pets aren’t allowed in the apartment complex. Chi’s Sweet Home is filled with stories of Chi doing what all kittens do best; getting into trouble and being cute. The book is published left-to-right and is in full color. Cat lovers, kids, actually everyone will love to laugh at, and with, Chi as she explores her new home and gets to know her new family. No library or home should be without this title.
