All ages comics and manga for 6/23/10

June 25, 2010 by Lori Henderson   Leave a Comment

Summer vacation is a time for relaxing and trying to do as little you can get away with. It seems publishers seem to be feeling the same way, considering the size of this week’s list. Boom! Studios hits hard with Disney superhero teams Incredibles and Ultraheroes, while DC manages some magic with Billy Baston and the Magic of SHAZAM. Archie Comics looks at the crew from Riverdale with super powers and as super spies, while over at Bongo, Bart Simpson finds all kinds of summer trouble to get into. And check out this week’s pick. Just one this time, since it’s such a small list.

The List:

ARCHAIA ENTERTAINMENT
Fraggle Rock #3 (of 4)(Joanna Estep Cover), $3.95
Fraggle Rock #3 (of 4)(Whitney Leith Cover), $3.95
Mouse Guard Legends Of The Guard #2 (of 4), $3.50

ARCHIE COMICS
Archie #610, $2.99
Archie Digest #265, $2.69

BONGO COMICS
Bart Simpson Comics #54, $2.99

BOOM! STUDIOS

DC COMICS
Billy Batson And The Magic Of SHAZAM #17, $2.50

IMAGE COMICS
Banana Tails Colorful Adventure HC, $12.99 ^^AA Pick^^

The Pick:

Banana Tails Colorful Adventure – Image Comics brings out another title for the young reader, this time illustrated in the CGI style. Banana Tail the Monkey, Tic Tac a plaid zebra, and Slubb the hippo are trying to figure out why their best friend Reena, the color-changing rhino is upset and changing colors so much. Did something happen? Can they help? Will Reena be upfront with what happened? Emphasising friendship and honesty, this story presents its themes in a way that young readers can understand and enjoy. Elementary school librarians and teachers will want to give this title a good look over.
