All ages comics and manga for 3/10/10

March 12, 2010 by Lori Henderson   Leave a Comment

It’s a nice long list this week.  Boom! Studios is really showing it’s commitment to kids comics with a long list of releases with something to fit just about any kid’s taste.  Marvel seems to be revamping their kid’s lineup, with the final issue of Marvel Superheroes this week.  But there’s also the return of the Pet Avengers with another short series.  Hopefully, Marvel will bring their kids line back as robust as before.   Seven Seas completes their revamp of the Avalon: Web of Magic series with the final volume’s release.  Check out this and this week’s picks for more great girls in comics and manga.

Picks:

Lizard Prince Volume 2 – CMX has had a slue of short titles for all ages, and this is one of them.  In this final volume, Sienna and Canary are preparing for their wedding, but still troubles plague them.  First, Heath, Sienna’s younger brother, accidentally causes Sienna to lose all his memories, and it’s up to Canary to get them back.  Then, Sienna loses control of his transformation, and Canary may just have to marry a lizard.  The first volume of this series was cute and fun to read.  Canary is the kind of female lead I like, strong-willed and willing to take charge when needed.  This title is the perfect addition to any elementary or middle school library.

POP Wonderland Volume 3: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – This third volume of the POP Wonderland series takes on a story that has been getting a lot of press lately.  This version of Alice in Wonderland is written for young readers.  Following a rabbit dressed in a jacket, holding a pocket watch, and running round on it’s hind legs crying "I’m late!", Alice is taken to a fantastic world where anything in possible.  This volume has all the familiar characters, such as the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Cheshire Cat, and of course the wicked Queen of Hearts.  Younger readers will love the story and readers of every age will appreciate the lush, pastel illustrations.
