All ages comics and manga for 11/18/09
A week before Thanksgiving, and the list is on the short side this week. Boom! Studios has more Disney goodness to share, including one of my picks for the holidays. Bongo Comics lets the Simpsons run wild through well known stories featuring animals. It’s a twisted dose of animal literature! DC and Image Comics also gives you your dose of superhero comics for kids, and it’s a special celebration for a classic kids comics icon as my second pick.

Walt Disney’s Christmas Classics vol 1 – With Thanksgiving just around the corner, that means Christmas isn’t far behind. What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than with the best stories from Disney’s long comic book publishing history? This book has 9 stories such as It’s a Wonderful Christmas Story, Mickey’s Mixed Up Christmas, and Three Good Little Ducks, and features all the iconic Disney characters you and your kids will love. This hard back edition will make a great addition to any library and enjoyed for many Christmas’ to come.
Casper The Friendly Ghost 60th Anniversary – Dark Horse celebrates Casper the Friendly Ghost‘s 60th Anniversary with a special hard cover edition of two very rare Casper comics. Collected in this volume are the first two issues of Casper. The first issue was published in 1949 by Archer St. John and then Harvey Comics published their premier issue in 1952. Join Casper in two stories as he rejects what the other ghosts say that he must scare people, and makes friends with animals and kids alike. This is another classic that both kids and their parents will love and libraries can add with confidence with the sturdy cover and affordable price.
