All ages comics and manga for 11/11/09
It’s a week for comic properties. Boom! Studios is exploding (no pun intended) with Disney/Pixar movie spin offs, including a new one that is one of my picks. Dark Horse, the home of Star Wars comics for years has a new Clone Wars, and DC pulls out some Cartoon Network staples with the Action Pack and Scooby Doo. But property-based or original, it’s a good, healthy list for kids to choose from!

Wall-E #0 – Another new title in Boom! Studio’s blitz of making recent Disney/Pixar films into comics. This new ongoing series starts as a prequel to the movie. Wall-E isn’t alone on Earth. While other robots do the work of cleaning up, Wall-E takes the time to pickup items of interest to him. But as the other robots start to break down, will he be to change his priorities? Will the Earth be doomed? Fans of the movie will be interested in seeing the influences that shaped Wall-E, and parents can continue to feel safe in getting the kids books both of them can enjoy.
Geronimo Stilton vol 3 Coliseum Con – Geronimo Stilton is a series of books originally published in Italy, and has been published here in the US by Scholastic. Papercutz has gotten into the act as well, with a new series of graphic novels based on the characters, but different from the books. Geronimo must travel back in time to stop his nemesis, the Pirate Cats, from changing history and making themselves the rulers of Mouse Island. In this volume, the Pirate Cats are trying to take credit for designing the Coliseum, and Geronimo and friends must stop them, but also take some time to take in the sights of Ancient Rome. To find out more about these graphic novels, check out the review of the first two volumes here.
