All ages comics and manga for 8/19/09
Great selection of books this week. Amaze Ink brings out the trades of the Gargoyles titles that continued the animated series and was written by the original writer Greg Weismen. The series ended prematurely, but they are great reads none the less. Archie hits the #600 milestone, and Boom! Studios introduces another Disney property, Monsters Inc. Hyperion has another graphic novel based on the novel series, Artemis Fowl. I wonder how sales are for Hyperion by choosing to go with the graphic novel format instead of manga? It must do okay since it got a second volume!

Artemis Fowl GN Vol 2 Arctic Incident – Artemis Fowl is a series of prose novels written for Tween-Teen readers. Artemis isn’t your average hero. In fact, he isn’t a hero at all! Anti-hero at best, Artemis is an arch-criminal following into the family business. In this graphic novel based on the second book, Artemis has recovered from his first adventure, and is now in search of his father, who disappeared 2 years ago and was declared dead. With the help of Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon, he must infiltrate the Mafiya, the Russian organized crime syndicate to save his father. Artemis Fowl is a great series for both boys and girls with lots of adventure, hi-tech gadgets, and fairies with guns. Really, with a combination like that, how can you go wrong?
