All ages comics and manga for 8/12/09
Lots of comics again this week. Boom! Studios finishes it’s first Toy Story series. Image Comics has a new G-Man series, which it keeps at the lower $2.99 price point, instead of increasing to $3.99 as was originally planned. Marvel finishes it’s fantastic series for pet lovers Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers (Hairball is still the best!), as well as bring out some trades in their First Class series for Tweens. Viz has the lone manga this week, with the 3rd volume of Bakegyamon, another of their great picks for kids.

Picks:
G-Man Cape Crisis #1 – Chris Giarrusso, the creator of Mini Marvels, returns with an all new mini-series of his original creation, G-Man. Scrap pieces of G-Man’s magic cape fall into the wrong hands. It’s up to G-Man and his friends to retrieve them, but the task becomes more difficult as the villains who posses the pieces now have G-Man’s powers as well, and they aren’t too keen to give them up. Chris has done a great job at making characters fun and friendly to younger readers, so he deserves this mini-series, his first full length comic.
Lava Is A Floor – This title is part of Image Comics Silverline of books for young readers. This book is about two monster siblings who use their imagination to pretend it be the weirdest creatures they can think of,ordinary humans, and their lava filled cave is a house with plush carpeting. Kids will love the story of monsters pretending to be people, just as they love to pretend to be monsters. The art has an animated look and is very colorful. This hard cover would make a great addition to any young reader’s library.
